Welcome to Uke On The Brain Ukulele Club, Braintree, Essex
Our ukulele club was formed in November 2016 by a small group of friends with an interest in playing the ukulele. There are three rivers that run through Braintree and one of them is the River Brain - hence the name!
We meet at The Retreat Pub, Bocking, Braintree on a Thursday evening from 7.30 to 9.30 fortnightly. We welcome beginners, improvers and acomplished players - in fact anyone! The only rule is - ukuleles and ukulele banjo's only. There is no charge to come along, but the pub would expect you to buy a drink!
We have a large resource of song books with 50 songs in each book. We have over 20 books now and they are presented in PDF format on our SONGS page. Once you come along to club you can buy the books in printed format and get the password for the SONGS page! The books are available to members only and cost £3 each. £1.50 of each book goes to our charity that we support UNQUE IMELDA - look at this page for more information. Each book has chords imbedded in the songs and every page has the chord charts used for each song illustrated. On a club night we use the next 2 books in sequence and everyone takes turns to select a song that we play from those books. We also have the books in Guitar chord format (our cheat books!) for Baritone ukes that have that tuning (DGBE).
We also have a gig band that plays at care homes, charity events, fund raising events and has even played at local concerts and weddings. All monies that are donated go to UNIQUE IMELDA. Look at our GIG BAND page to find out more.
